Institutional Advising

Institutional Advising

The Barney Center provides selective institutional advising focused on higher education, legal education, interdisciplinary learning, experiential education, and the growing impact of artificial intelligence on professional and academic life.

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming classrooms, institutions, and professions. While much of the public conversation focuses on efficiency and disruption, the deeper challenge facing educational institutions is how to adapt without losing the human dimensions of education itself.

The Barney Center’s approach emphasizes thoughtful adaptation rather than reactive change. Technology matters, but institutions ultimately rise or fall based on leadership, judgment, trust, mentorship, and the ability to prepare people not only for employment, but for thoughtful participation in civic and professional life.

Areas of focus include:

  • legal education in the AI era
  • curriculum redesign
  • interdisciplinary learning
  • experiential education
  • civic education
  • leadership development
  • institutional adaptation

The Center works with institutions interested in serious conversations about the future of education and professional formation during a period of rapid technological and social transformation.
